I've been going a little map mad lately. It's been a long term project working with maps in my work, I love to scan them for a bit of added texture in a digital work. But recently I've been looking at mixed media ideas. Here are a few favourites:
Mountains and roads made from maps! Love it! Or turn them into trees.

After spending the whole day working on mini maps and playing with the idea of breaking them up and turning them into new countries, I was excited and a tad disappointed to stumble onto Frances Berrini's work.

Last week I started a course at the local art school in mixed media, hopefully it will prove inspiring. The first couple of lessons have been great, and I've persevered with work that I would normally give up on. Grabbed this shot today of the paint covered sink in the classroom. Love it.
I first fell in love with magnolia trees working on a gardening magazine years ago. Now each spring I look forward to them and get out and photograph them.
Its the Festival of the Winds down at Bondi Beach today, hundreds of colourful kites flying. So we had to head down there, Scampi knowing a lot about wind. Perfect weather for it too!
